I'm a graduate student writing a paper on dual relationships in substance abuse counseling. I haven't found any current statistics or much reliable research. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!
Where can I find current statistics on substance abuse counselors in recovery themselves?
Thats a good question. I work at a D%26amp;A rehab myself, and although this is just personal experience, I would say about 50% of people from the counselor level and up through supervisors and directors are in recovery. On the other hand, about 80-90% of the techs (the people below the counselors who are basically the baby sitters) are in recovery. I attribute this to their lack of college degrees and licensure. Thats a good idea for a paper. Good luck.
