What do the three numbers in basketball players statistics represent?

When I look up the box scores of a team, it will say the players name, and then list three numbers.

For example : Sullivan 12-9-40

I know the last number is the number of points he had last night, but what are the 12 and the 9. Number of assists, rebounds, boards, shots, or what?

What do the three numbers in basketball players statistics represent?
fieldgoals (can be either 2 or three points)- freethrows (1 pt)- total points

This is definetly right, the other ppl are guessing
Reply:Rebounds-Assists-Points
