What is an easy statistics project to do?

I need to do a study or observation kind of thing and report it to my class for a 15 minute presentation. What can I do? Any suggestions?

tell them the difference and factors..etc..percentage chart can be made useful for a 15 min presentation.

Reply:You might try an experiment such as flipping a coin or throwing a die a large number times. Count the number of times the coin comes up heads or tails or how many times each number on the die comes up and then compare those numbers to the values predicted by the laws of probability.





If that is too abstract, develop a poll. Make up questions that can be answered yes or no, or which can be ranked on a scale such as 1 to 5. Ask a large number of students or other people these two questions and then make a correlation graph between the two answers. In your report you can discuss whether there is a high or low degree of correlation between the two sets of answers and whether or not that shows any relationship.





For instance you could ask 100 students to rate a certain rock band on a scale of 1 to 5 and then to rate their preference for a certain brand of running shoes also on a scale of 1 to 5. Graphing these scores can suggest whether or not shoe preference is related to musical taste.
Reply:There are millions of things you can do! You could design an attitude survey of 10 questions or so and hand it out to friends, family, or people at the local discount store. You could do a political attitudes survey -- what are people's opinions about George Bush? You could ask people about their daily exercise habits and then correlate that with how much time they actually spend exercising. You could find a personality questionnaire online and then have people fill that out and report back what you find. If you wanted to do observation, you could go to the playground and code kids' behaviour -- watch for two minute chunks and observe how many hits, how many laughs, how many arguments, or whatever behaviour you decided you were interested in. Maybe how much interaction between boys and girls at what age groups.
