Can anyone work out the ratios and percentages on these statistics?

Recently I asked 7 questions on the R %26amp; S site, looking for positive, uplifting thoughts and experiences. Out of a total of 132 answers, 66 came from men and 66 came from women.

30 Men answered negatively and 36 answered positively.

12 Women answered negatively and 54 answered positively.

I suspect that means that women have a more positive attitude towards life in general (and answering questions on Yahoo! in particular) whilst men have a more negative attitude (lol). But do the statistics bear this out? I'm a complete dunce when it comes to maths and I don't know how to present my findings, either as ratios or as percentages.

I want to post a potentially contentious question on the R %26amp; S site, based on my findings, but I can't do it without your help! Want to join in the fun?

Can anyone work out the ratios and percentages on these statistics?
You mean like;

Of 132 replies, 50% were men and 50% were women.

Of the men, 45.45% were negative - 54.54% were positive

Of women, 18.18 were negative - 81.81% were positive
Reply:Well here are some %s based on your numbers.

22.7% of the overall 132, were men with negative responses.

9.1% of the overall 132, were men with positive responses

27.3% of the overall 132, were women with negative responses

40.9% o the overall 132, were women with positive responses

What this can show is that men compared to women, has a more negative response than women to your questions. But in fairness, men had more positive answers than negative ones. Same with women, though looking at the overall percentages, women seemed to have a greater amount of positive answers than men.

But don't generalize on such an arbitrary way of looking at men and women's responses. You said there are 7 questions. You should see what type of questions you asked and whether they are fair. They can be very arbitrary and cause men to react more than women. It's a catch 22 in a way. But my calculations and the way I read them are just based on the information you provided. Good luck with your study! :)
Reply:In answer to your question : Yes someone can work it out, I dont know who, but someone can. Instead of using R%26amp;S try common scence
Reply:Do a chi-square test.
Reply:For the ratio - negative:positive, look at each separately.

Men

- = 30

+ = 36

ratio = 5:6

Women

- = 12

+ = 54

ratio = 2:9

Combine this with Blue Sky's answer.

Reply:I could easily do the math, but obsession with gender shows a shallow intellect, so I would be harming society by helping you. Sorry.
Reply:I'm numerically dyslexic.

(Thinks - What am I doing on this section?)

(Answers - Time to go back to R%26amp;S where verbal stimulation is a dashed sight more exciting than staid, predictable, safe maths.)
Reply:The fact that you asked the questions on Religion makes your argument flawed to start with. You say that you suspect women have a more positive outlook than men towards life in general but all you have proved is that the few men on R+S who answered your questions have a more negative view with regards to religion and aren't afraid to voice it.

I'll gladly do the stats for a general survey though if you want to use a wider spread of subject
