What are the most important traffic statistics of a website?

In looking at my report of my website's traffic, I wonder what is most important and telling? The report includes Traffic stats such as sessions, pageviews, hits, then details on Visitors such as by day, unique, loyalty. And there is also reports on pages %26amp; files, navigation, referrals, etc. What should I focus on in this lengthy summary report?

What are the most important traffic statistics of a website?
All metrics are important -- what matters is what you do with those metrics.

Take for example pageviews: this is a crucial metrics especially if you are selling advertising space on your site. The more pageviews you get, the higher the chances of earning more from advertising. The question now is: how do you increase pageviews per visit?

As to the pages viewed by the users. If you have an information site, then this metric could tell you that this is the topic that interests your users. If you have an ecommerce site, your next question is: how are the top pages converting and turning to sales?

It's not just a matter of looking at a single metric. It is looking at the combination of metrics, even all the ratios -- and then trying to understand the behavior of your users in order to improve your site performance
Reply:They're all important. From an advertising perspective, unique visitors and page views are probably the most important. But all of the other stats are important to help you understand your site users, and potential opportunities/improvements.
Reply:i think referrals are important because it shows you the source of your traffic.
