What is the statistics on elderly people dying in nursing homes and how long have they been there?

I am writing an essay on an " My World Now", an autobiographical essay by Anna Mae Halgrim Seaver. Its about life in a nursing home. I wish to find out the statistics in order to use as my hook.

What is the statistics on elderly people dying in nursing homes and how long have they been there?

- They say....

... national compilation of more than 500,000 nursing home deaths - for 1999 - lists starvation, dehydration or bedsores as the cause on 4,138 death certificates.

This next report is a pdf file and it is huge (188 pgs) but it is the most current I could find - It's called 2005 National Healthcare Disparities Report

It came from this website
