How might statistics be manipulated to support a certain point of view?

How might statistics be manipulated to support a certain point of view?

How might statistics be manipulated to support a certain point of view?
for example in Germany and in Russia the statistics given about the amounts of deaths were grossly underexagerated. this gave a point of view that they were winning
Reply:Manipulation of statistics:

In an election year, the city mayor might say that during his tenure, homicides were down 28 percent.

A crafty mayor would omit those deaths, results of a crime, which happened months AFTER THE CRIME. Suppose somebody assaulted your friend, and hit him on the head. Your friend dies 2 years later because he developed a tumor, BECAUSE of the beating, which caused pressure on his brain and he died. That's a result of a crime, but the statistics are not going to reflect that.

Hope this gets you thinking up some more examples!
